A day,
slowly
Mahdha sits high in Al Buraimi, folded between mountains and wadis, with farms that have been fed by the same water for generations. Here is how a day here tends to unfold.
Water before light
Mahdha’s aflaj, among them Falaj Mahdha, Al Khutwah and Al Khadhra, still carry wadi water to the farms. Rise early and the morning begins with the sound of it running beneath the palms.
A harvest of many things
With water from the wadis and aflaj, Mahdha’s fields grow dates, wheat, vegetables and fruit. Walk through the resort’s gardens after breakfast and you are walking a small piece of that story.
Shade is the local luxury
When the sun is at its highest, do what Mahdha has always done: slow down. The pool, the palms and a cold drink will hold you until the light softens.
A crossroads, once
Mahdha was a stop on an old trade route, and Bait Al Nadd castle, recently renovated, still stands at the centre of the wilayat. Traders once rested here too, for the same reasons you will.
The mountains turn to copper
High peaks and wadis such as Wadi Sharm and Al Khutwah fold around the wilayat. As the sun drops, the ridgelines glow above the palms and the whole valley turns the colour of dates.
A quiet you can hear
